Volunteering with QuadballUK is like joining a family – we work together, play together, support and build each other up in our mutual journey, collaborating towards the single aim of developing the sport of quadball in the United Kingdom.

To apply for a volunteer position in QuadballUK, we ask that you first read the position description on this page and then fill out the form. Junior roles are typically 2 hours or less commitment, though some reach 5-6 hours during peak times (e.g. around a tournament). Though slightly more varied, Senior roles are typically 2-4 hours per week with some reaching reaching 7-8 during peak times. Executive roles average 2-6 hours during quiet times, making them the most varied, and they can reach 6-8 during peaks with some positions clocking more than 10 hours per week. From time to time we also advertise temporary positions, low commitment roles working on a specific project.

Abridged Rulebook

Reports to: Gameplay

Project task: The IQA rulebook is currently 156 pages long. We are looking for a volunteer to create an abridged version of the rulebook, aiming to be at most 30 pages long, which retains as much relevant information as possible. Some knowledge of the rules would be useful, but not essential.

Gameplay Procedure Recordings

Reports to: Gameplay

Project task: We are looking for edited quadball footage, either occurring naturally in a tournament or artificially with actors, depicting the following scenarios: delayed penalty, advantage procedure, legal and illegal contact from behind, third dodgeball interference, legal "triple dodgeball control", restarting a contested ball, restarting contact after a stoppage. We are looking for one (or more) volunteers to either find and suggest clips of referees correctly or incorrectly making calls in the above scenarios, or act out a correctly refereed interaction including one of the scenarios outlined above. No knowledge of the rules or refereeing experience required.

Referee Development Sessions

Reports to: Gameplay

Project task: Although we have session plans for training sessions to help referees develop skills with in person drills, we do not have the human resources across the country. We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable running an in person referee development session, with the guidance of the Gameplay department, which would provide a session plan and any advice the session leaders require. Some experience refereeing preferable, but not required.

Presidential Department

Oversee the direction and leadership of QuadballUK as a sport and organisation. Department workload includes executive decision making, partner relationship management, supervising volunteers and projects, policy drafting, representing QuadballUK nationally and internationally, and chairing regular meetings.

President

Executive Level Volunteer (2-6 hours per week)
The President chairs the Executive Management Team, acts as a National and International Representative of QuadballUK and supports the development of the Sport and the community. They oversee the whole of QUK and are a full voting partner alongside the Vice President and Operations Director. This role is great for anyone interested in leadership, communicating a vision and enabling a team to develop for the future.

National Teams Coordinator

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)
Responsible for liaising with the national team leadership and scouting team; includes handling kit orders or supporting pan-team efforts such as WISE. They work with the Partnerships Officer to facilitate National Team Sponsorship, and with the International Officer for any timely communications that need to be passed on from the IQA. Individuals applying for the position must be a good communicator and self-starting. No previous international experience is necessary. This role would suit someone with a background in events or interest in growing their team management skills.

Partnerships Officer

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)
The Partnerships Officer is responsible for generating new leads for sponsorship and partnership, as well as maintaining our existing relationships. The Partnerships Officer researches and communicates new potential partners and reports to the President to then formalise these connections. This is a great entry position and works well with a flexible schedule, anyone with an interest in lead development or B2B sales would find the role particularly beneficial.

Clubs Department

The main point of contact for clubs regarding support and development. Department workload includes developing grants, identifying areas for expansion, assisting new and developing clubs, player transfers, improving the standard of play through coaching programmes, directing communication between clubs and QuadballUK leadership.

Assistant Clubs Director

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)
The Assistant Clubs Director assists the director in developing resources, expanding the sport, and supporting our member clubs. They report to the Clubs Director and may occasionally be called on to fill-in for them in their executive duties. We're looking for strong communicators, capable of building relationships both face-to-face and online with clubs.

Scottish Expansion Manager

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)
The Expansion Managers support players looking to set up new teams in their respective regions, as well as existing clubs looking to grow. They offer advice to committees and recommend resources to get teams started and provide a platform for existing teams to reach a new level. Although Expansion managers focus primarily on their own region, they can collaborate with other managers as needed and can expect support from the Clubs Director. Anyone with a passion for seeing their region grow will be ideal for this role. Applications are only open to those living in this region.

Clubs Officer

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)

The Clubs Officer work as a point of contact for clubs regarding support and development. They report to the Clubs Director but have the opportunity to work with different departments. This is a great starting point for Club expansion and engagement; works well for a flexible schedule and adds a boost to your skillset!

Events Department

Oversee the creation, development, and management aspects of official QuadballUK events. Department workloads include event bidding, schedules and formatting, venue search, third-party accreditation, and tournament direction.

Assistant Events Director

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)
The Assistant Events Director is the right hand to the Events director; they support them in the management of tournaments, as well as the management of the events department. This may include stepping in to meetings in place of the Events Director, speaking with potential venues, and liaising with teams around events.

This role reports primarily to the Events Director, but you will be working with other departments on a regular basis.

Past experience of tournament organisation or event management is highly desirable. Experience in team management is a big plus but this role offers plenty of room for growth and development.

First Aid Coordinator

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)
The First Aid Coordinator is responsible for various health and safety aspects of QUK events. They work with Epione (our medical partners) to manage communications between QuadballUK and the community about First Aid, and may get involved with encouraging volunteers to get qualified to first aid at QUK tournaments. They are also responsible for reviewing risk assessments for QUK events and ensuring that adequate safety procedures are in place.

This role reports to the Events Director but you can expect to work with volunteers from Media and Volunteers.

This role is ideal for someone with knowledge of volunteer first aid and/or health and safety around sporting events. Experience in administration or research in these particular areas would also be a big advantage.

Scheduling Coordinator

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)

The Scheduling Coordinator develops and oversees the tools which drive QuadballUK's events. Their responsibilities include oversight of our events data structures, management of our team submission forms, and organisation of tournament schedules.

This role reports primarily to the Events Director, but you will be working with the Gameplay and Media departments on a regular basis.

The role requires experience developing forms and managing complex spreadsheets. Experience with tournament scheduling is also required.

Equipment Officer

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)

The Equipment Officers work within the Events department to manage and maintain QUK’s tournament equipment. They also led on setting up and packing down all equipment for Quadball UK events. These roles require a good level of organisation, a knowledge of proper quadball pitch set-up and the skills needed to assess and repair problems with equipment as needed. No specific experience is required, making this an excellent entry-level role.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintain an accurate stock count of all of Quadball UK’s tournament equipment
  • Organise the storage facility containing Quadball UK’s tournament equipment to allow for easy access as required
  • Carry out repairs on Quadball UK’s tournament equipment as required or arrange for replacement equipment to be purchased
  • Support in the transfer of Quadball UK’s equipment to transport vehicles and back to the storage facility in line with the tournament planning schedule
  • Lead on the setting up and packing down of equipment at Quadball UK events

Events Officer

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)

The Events Officer can work on many different tasks such as venue scouting, supporting QUK tournaments and reviewing tournament feedback. They report to the Events Director but have the opportunity to work with different departments to bring Events together. This is a great starting point for Event Management; works well for a flexible schedule and adds a boost to your skillset!

Gameplay Department

Oversee the creation and development of resources and training for referees and flag runners across QuadballUK. Department workload includes rulebook adjustments, training resources, field testing, and standardisation of official ability across QuadballUK tournaments and leagues.

Assistant Gameplay Director

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)
The Assistant Gameplay Director works closely with the Gameplay Director, overseeing projects to develop the UK's referees, snitches, and the sport more generally. Experience as a player and referee is highly desirable, and while team management skills will be a big plus this role offers plenty of room for growth and development in that area.

Field Test Coordinator

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)

Field tests are in person assessments of referees' competence. These allow for individual referees to both be recognised as excellent match officials and receive specific, constructive advice on areas to improve. We are looking for someone to attend tournaments and assess referees who request a field test. A good knowledge of the rules and experience refereeing are preferably, ideally including experience head refereeing.

Gameplay Officer

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)

An entry level role for the gameplay department. Experiences as a player, referee, coach, and snitch are useful for those interested, and for those with knowledge of rules and tournament management, alongside an enthusiasm for improving the game and tournaments.

Video Resources Officer

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)

Video resources are the most common resource that our feedback tells us would benefit new referees. We are looking for a volunteer with experience recording or editing footage to be able to produce polished resources targeting referee development. No knowledge of the rules or refereeing experience required.

Media Department

Oversee all aspects of QuadballUK media and marketing. Department workload includes social media management, film and photography, copywriting, public relations and releases, content creation, website development, graphic design, and media resource creation for clubs.

Media Officer

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)
We're looking for someone with experience creating, planning and running content on social media pages. This role will work closely with other departments to schedule important releases and ensure the community is kept informed of QUK activities.

Operations Department

Oversee the financial, legal, and logistical aspects to QuadballUK. Department workload includes merchandise, budgeting, expenses, sponsorships, and policy oversight.

Volunteers

Oversee the ever important recruitment and wellbeing of our volunteers. Department workload includes recruitment of volunteer staff, development and training, health and wellbeing, volunteer disciplinary matters, and identifying areas within QuadballUK that require volunteer resources.

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)

The Equity Diversity & Inclusion committee aims to foster better access and representation within QuadballUK, with opportunities to directly give feedback to the executive management team. We're looking for someone with lived experience to join as a co-chair, jointly the key liaison between the committee and EMT.

EDI Committee Membe

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)
Members of the committee input on programmes or policies from QUK, and make recommendations of projects to improve the access and representation. Initial focuses for the committee will be issues faced by Black, Asian, and ethnic minority community members, and also transgender and minority gender members.

Youth Department

Oversee the creation and growth of youth quadball across the country by developing resources and working directly with our official Youth Quadball Partner, Enrich Education. All Youth Volunteers must have previously had a DBS check.

Youth Manager

Senior Level Volunteer (2-4 hours per week)
QuadballUK are building a team to work alongside Enrich in pushing the development of youth quadball across the country. As well as overseeing this team, the Manager position will play a key role in creating youth resources, promoting the youth element of the sport, and liaising with the Presidential team about developments in this area. If you're passionate about youth quadball then this will be a great role for you!

This role reports to the President of QuadballUK but will involve working with a wide range of people from both QUK and Enrich Education. NB: This is not an executive position and does have voting powers on EMT.

Past experience working with youth outreach is a requirement, as are good communication skills. Experience creating quadball resources and leading a team will be helpful, but not essential.

Youth Quadball Officer

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)
The Youth Quadball Officer supports the growth and development of youth quidditch, with our partners at Enrich Education. They advise youth teams on adapting the sport to ensure safety for children, developing coaching guidelines, and connecting interested groups with resources and Enrich education.

This role links in with Gameplay and Clubs to develop resources, but your main contact will be with Enrich Education.

Experience with youth quidditch, either coordinating or running sessions, is ideal for this role. We're looking for individuals with strong communication skills, enthusiasm for the growth of the sport and the confidence to seek out and approach interested parties.

Youth Quadball Liaison

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)
This role liaises between QuadballUK, Enrich, and clubs/parties organising youth quadball to help grow that element of the sport. Day to day duties will involve assisting Enrich in creating resources to promote the sport, being a point of contact with youth quadball organisers, and liaising with local QUK clubs. If you’re a great communicator then this will be the role for you! Great communication skills are a requirement, experience working with youth outreach is highly desirable.

Youth Gameplay Coordinator

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)
The youth version of quadball requires amendments to rules and gameplay to ensure that it’s suitable for younger audiences. Day to day duties will involve assisting Enrich in adapting the rules of the sport and creating resources to explain the sport. If you have a keen interest in gameplay and want to be part of expanding the youth element of the sport then this is the role for you! Good knowledge of gameplay is a requirement, experience working with youth outreach is highly desirable.

National Team Volunteers

Develop, coordinate, and train the most talented players in the country at the highest levels of competitive international quadball.

Team Wales Head Coach

Executive Level Volunteer (2-6 hours per week)

As Head Coach you’re responsible for the development, training and performance of talented UK quadball players on the world stage! This includes overseeing squad selection, managing the coaching team, liaising with the scouting team, developing training strategies and tactics, and working with the Manager to organise regular training. We’re looking for applicants who have a strong background in coaching, in and out of quadball, with a vision and plan for how they’ll make the team competitives on an international stage.

Team Wales Manager

Executive Level Volunteer (2-6 hours per week)
National team managers take the lead on the logistical, financial, and organisational aspects of their team. This includes making arrangements for training and tournaments, overseeing fundraising efforts, talking to the media, and managing national team volunteers.  They can also feed back any issues to EMT through the President or Clubs Director. This role is perfect for anyone with a strong background in club leadership interested in aiding the success of their national team!

Team Scotland Head Coach

Executive Level Volunteer (2-6 hours per week)

This role is a member of the Team Scotland admin team (Manager, Assistant Manager, Head Coach) and head of the coaching team (Head Coach and Assistant Coaches)

Primary Tasks:

  • Working with the rest of the admin team to schedule trainings throughout the country (minimum monthly).
  • Working with the coaching team to plan trainings.
  • Delivering trainings (or organising delivery of trainings).
  • Attending flexible weekly meetings with the admin team to work on Team Scotland objectives.
  • Develop Team Scotland and Scottish quadball players individually and as a group to play their best at any tournament.
  • Putting together the training squad based on scouting and applications (with help from the admin and coaching teams)
  • Selecting squads for upcoming tournaments, with help from the coaching team
  • Head Coach may also choose to take on additional tasks and responsibilities in conjunction with the admin team within their own interests and passions.

Team Scotland Assistant Coach

Senior Level Volunteer
As the assistant coach you will support the roles and responsibilities held by the head coaches. This includes helping the Head Coach with squad selection, talking to scouts, and assisting on training and tactics. We’re looking for applicants who have a strong background in coaching to help take our national team to success!

National Team Scout

Junior Level Volunteer (2 hours or less per week)
Assist the national teams’ coaching leadership in identifying and recognising top-level quadball talent across the country. You will gauge performances of those who have requested to be scouted, and report to the national team coaches so they can make an informed decision about selection.
