We're trialling this idea to help players get a better understanding of what UK quidditch's national governing body (that's us!) do month-to-month. These are intended to be more formal than our newsletter, serving as a monthly digest of our weekly executive minutes. Like this idea? Hate it? Thoroughly ambivalent? Let us know!
Presidential
QUK held a featured event at Comic Con London and Birmingham, helped by volunteers throughout the organisation. We also released the bitesize guides for club committees and at AGM announced that we will be starting the search for our next President in the months to come.
Events
Omar Coakley took over from Fran Morris as Events Director, continuing from his great work as an Assistant Director. The October community fixture took place in London and we've started exploring sponsorship options for future fixtures.
Open Roles: Assistant Events Director, Tournament Media Officer
Filled Roles: Events Director
Expansion
Our wonderful Expansion team have continued doing what they do best, supporting new and growing clubs. We're still on the hunt for a Director though so if you think you could help in QUK's expansion efforts, get in touch!
Open Roles: Expansion Director
Gameplay
The referee quota for fixtures has been tweaked to account for the new landscape of community and university teams. We also welcomed a new referee development coordinator who'll be working with the department on developing our resources for match officials. Further improvements have been made to Quidditch Scheduler accounting for the feedback from the season so far.
Filled Roles: Ref Development Coordinator
Open Roles: Assistant Director
Media
The QUK Discord launched, serving as a new hub for community discussion! In terms of outward media, QUK's now verified on Giphy (which means we can use GIFs on Instagram Stories) and we've starting work on a "tone of voice" media guidance doc. We're also on the hunt for new media volunteers; let us know if you're interested!
Open Roles: Media Coordinator, Content Creator
Operations
We've finalised the financial report for the 2020/21 season and it was presented to clubs at the AGM. In short, QUK didn't make a loss last season and we're incredibly grateful to all those who contributed to keep our operating costs covered while play was disrupted.
Open Roles: Assistant Director
Teams
We organised the AGM for the 2020/21 season at which clubs agreed they would like to see General Forums return; keep your eyes peeled for news about those! We've also continued doing checkins with university clubs about their recruitment.
Volunteers
As well as the recruitment mentioned elsewhere here, we worked on the constitutional review for the 2020/21 season (changes to which were approved at the AGM). We've also started on a handover document template for executive volunteers to help them ease into their roles.
Open Roles: EDI Committee, Recruitment Officer
National Teams
We welcomed a new Team Scotland Head Coach to QUK which means the team can get back to training as usual. Our Scouting Team have also continued their great work and welcomed new Head Scout Isla Adams who'll be taking over from Lukas Twist.
Filled Roles: Head Scout, Team Scotland Head Coach
Open Roles: National Team Media Coord (one per team)
