Dec Ramsay Stepping Down from Presidential Role

After 5 years of volunteering with QuadballUK, Dec Ramsay is stepping down as President as they focus on their mental health and ongoing recovery from C-PTSD.

Dec took over the reigns of President last year, following 4 years of work across various positions. They have been an Events volunteer, Media volunteer, Technology Director, before taking up the role of President.

As a volunteer Dec has had a hand in most parts of Quadball at all levels over the last 5 years - some highlights include leading the QUK website rebuild, Tournament Directing Development Cup, Volunteering with the IQA as Assistant Communications Director, running contact clinics at fixtures, to all the responsibilities of leading the organisation as President.

Reflecting on their time with QUK as President, Dec states they’re particularly proud of their work bringing financial partners both old and new into the sport, including author John Green as shirt sponsor for Team England, and the uptake of the new Club Incentives that they developed for this coming season as part of the Strategic Plan.

On their departure, Dec had this to say:

“I’m sad to be stepping away from the Presidency of this great organisation. Quadball has been a central part of my life for the past 7 years, and I’m looking forward to enjoying it as a player once more. The next generation of Quadball leadership is emerging and I am excited to see the direction the next president will take. I am particularly thankful for my leadership team who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, and kept me afloat.”

“I am immensely grateful for the supportive messages I’ve received from people in our community who know I’ve been struggling with my mental health recently. Discussing mental health issues remains a taboo topic in many parts of society; It kills in silence. I hope by openly discussing my C-PTSD will help break some of the stigma. I want anyone else who is struggling with their mental health to know they are not alone. I am with you, this community is with you, and we will get through this together.”

Dec will continue to serve as President until November 2024, however QuadballUK has now opened applications for the role.

For those interested in applying, we strongly encourage you to reach out to the Volunteers Director in order to discuss the role and where you would like both the future of the Presidency and the sport to go.

Applications will remain open until mid October, to allow handover before the first fixtures of the 2024/2025 season. Applications and expressions of interest can be made via the form below.
