Having already begun his term strongly with the resounding success of our first Community and University League tournaments, QuidditchUK are proud to officially announce Omar Coakley as our new Events Director. He follows Fran Morris who stepped down earlier this year.
Omar’s quidditch career started towards the end of 2019, playing at Southern for the Werewolves of London before the first COVID lockdown. More recently, he’s swapped the burgundy jersey for a green one as he started playing for Krakow Dragons in Poland.
His role as Events Director follows his work as Assistant Events Director, and Omar has already settled into the role. He successfully organised the first two events of the University League as well as being crucial to the earlier Community League tournaments. QuidditchUK are very excited to see Omar take the Events Department from strength to strength as we begin a new chapter for the sport.
Asked about what he’s excited for in his new post, Omar had this to say:
“Being part of the events departments has really opened my eyes [to] how wonderful and welcoming the community is. As someone who has experience in working in the events industry I look forward to spearheading this department into a new direction and enhancing the experience of future events for everyone.”
Quidditch UK are happy to (finally!) congratulate Omar on his new post, and wish him and the rest of the Events team the best of luck for the ongoing season and beyond.
